The author of this tongue-in cheek recipe (or ‘receipt’ as then known) is unknown but the hand is very similar to that of Richard Angier of Coton born 1788. Various account books belonging to this gentleman and other records of the family’s extensive estates in Barton and Coton survive alongside this item in the Rayner Collection
